Three best-selling authors and respected social media thought leaders featured speakers at summit
SALT LAKE CITY – April 19, 2010 —The Women Tech Council (WTC), (www.womentechcouncil.org) today announced the Building Trust in a Connected World Summit will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Noah’s in South Jordan. The event will feature New York Times’ best-selling authors, Chris Brogan, Julien Smith and Mitch Joel. Registration is limited to the first 200 people.
The Building Trust in a Connected World Summit brings together three of the most respected thought leaders in social media marketing and building meaningful online relationships. The summit will feature 45 minute presentations from each speaker and conclude with a Q&A roundtable session.
“Social media are tools that allow us to see things a bit differently and empower new ways of working together,” said Chris Brogan. “But they’re just the tools. Our passions and goals are what bring it together and enable us to communicate on a higher level and interact in a more meaningful way. Chris Brogan is president of New Marketing Labs, a social media agency and frequently speaks at and attends marketing and social media events. He is co-founder of the PodCamp new media conference series, exploring the use of new media community tools to extend and build value. He is also co-author of the best-selling book Trust Agents and the recently released Social Media 101.
Julien Smith is an author, consultant and speaker who has been involved in online communities for more than 15 years. He was one of the first people on the web to use podcasting in 2004, and one of the first web personalities broadcast by traditional radio. He has worked with and been interviewed by numerous media organizations such as CNN, CBC and CTV. He is co-author of the best-selling book, Trust Agents.
Mitch Joel was dubbed the “Rock Star of Digital Marketing” and called, “one of North America’s leading digital visionaries” by Marketing Magazine. In 2006, he was named one of the most influential authorities on blog marketing in the world. He is president of Twist Image, an award-winning digital marketing and communications agency. In 2008, he was named Canada’s Most Influential Male in Social Media, one of the top 100 online marketers in the world, and was awarded the highly-prestigious Canada’s Top 40 Under 40. He is the author of Six Pixels of Separation.
