Steph Couzin
After earning her degree in economics, Steph Couzin landed a sales and marketing analyst role at NBC Sports Group. Her contributions there helped the sales team drive over $1 billion in advertising sales for both the Super Bowl and Olympics. Steph then transitioned into a strategy role at Bloomberg where she was instrumental in developing and launching Bloomberg Media’s digital-first multi-brand strategy, as well as the Bloomberg Politics vertical to support coverage of the 2016 US presidential election.
Through these roles, Steph built a strong business acumen along with deep analytics and operations expertise. She became adept at digital product development processes, optimizing audiences for monetization, restructuring businesses for long-term growth and building financial forecasts. Here she discovered her aptitude for revenue while learning about the opportunities that existed in high-growth SaaS companies–and the need for more women in tech.
Steph made the leap to tech in 2017 when she joined Lucid as Chief of Staff. Immediately, Steph played an instrumental role in launching Lucid’s education arm of the business. Since then, she’s worn a variety of hats, including launching the business operations function and scaling the strategic finance team from two to ten employees, even without a formal finance background. Steph oversees the end-to-end corporate planning and budgeting process and has played an integral role in Lucid’s financing rounds.
Her innovative, data-driven approach has been vital navigating Lucid through strategy and market shifts. Elliot Smith, SVP of Finance at Lucid, shared, “Steph has architected and evolved our go-to-market motion, making us both fast-growing and efficient.” Steph’s tenacity, grit, and willingness to jump into anything have enabled her to bring a unique level of innovation and strategic insight to every level of her career, and ultimately led to her promotion to Vice President of Strategic Finance and Business Operations at Lucid.
