Karen Peterson

Karen Peterson is a dynamic leader in the tech industry, known for her innovative approach and commitment to empowering others. As Chief Marketing Officer at Chatbooks, she aligns seamlessly with the company’s mission to ‘Connect and Strengthen Families,’ integrating her expertise as a performance marketer and brand storyteller with her role as committed wife and mother.

After earning her MBA from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School, Karen transitioned from consumer packaged goods to tech, quickly establishing herself as a strategic thinker. She has excelled in four CMO roles, achieving remarkable results in fast-paced tech environments at Ancestry, BrainStorm, Lendio, and Chatbooks. She notably launched Ancestry’s Canadian business while living in Toronto, showcasing her ability to lead and innovate on an international scale.

Originally from Virginia and a Utah resident since 2001, Karen manages a successful career while being a devoted wife and mom of four. The birth of her second child with Spina Bifida profoundly transformed her family’s perspective, fueling a deep commitment to advocacy, particularly in adaptive sports. Karen and her husband recently founded a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and enhancing support for athletes with disabilities.

Passionate about mentoring, Karen serves on the BYU Marketing Advisory Board and frequently speaks on campus, where she fosters connections and provides opportunities for internships and professional projects. She inspires students and young professionals, especially women, to pursue their careers with resilience and balance.

Outside of work, you may find Karen cheering for her son at wheelchair basketball tournaments, enjoying concerts with her daughter, snow biking and camping with her family, on the back of a Harley, or surfing behind a boat. She continues to make a significant impact through her professional achievements and community efforts.
